BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra — Based at City Halls and broadcasting from Glasgow since 1935, the orchestra makes familiar scores feel newly discovered and new music feel immediately necessary. Ryan Wigglesworth leads a season that moves from Beethoven and Mahler to film, birdsong and the electric violin.
