Elgar’s magnificent First Symphony begins with one of the greatest tunes ever written by a British composer. It’s a work that pulses with all the energy, colour and sheer emotion of life itself. Music Director Thomas Søndergård brings it to life and begins with two more tales of musical romance – Schumann’s heartfelt piano concerto, played by Anna Vinnitskaya, and a tale of forbidden love from the wonderful British composer Dorothy Howell.
